Explaining evolution


"Well evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape-like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered.

Moreover, "fact" doesn't mean "absolute certainty"; there is no such animal in an exciting and complex world. The final proofs of logic and mathematics flow deductively from stated premises and achieve certainty only because they are not about the empirical world. Evolutionists make no claim for perpetual truth, though creationists often do (and then attack us falsely for a style of argument that they themselves favor). In science "fact" can only mean "confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional consent." I suppose that apples might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal time in physics classrooms.

Evolutionists have been very clear about this distinction of fact and theory from the very beginning, if only because we have always acknowledged how far we are from completely understanding the mechanisms (theory) by which evolution (fact) occurred. Darwin continually emphasized the difference between his two great and separate accomplishments: establishing the fact of evolution, and proposing a theory--natural selection--to explain the mechanism of evolution.

They say we need more money for education. That's the big answer to everything, education. They say we need more money for books, more teachers, more classrooms, more schools, and more testing for the kids, and they'll say, well we tried all of that, and the kids still can't pass the tests. Don't worry about that, because we're going to lower the passing grades, and that's what they do in a lot of these schools. They lower the passing grades so more kids can pass - more kids pass, the school looks goods, and the IQ of the country slips another 2 or 3 points. And pretty soon all you'll need to get into college is a pencil. Got a pencil? Then get in there, it's physics!

Then people wonder why 17 other countries graduate more scientist than we do. Education - politicians use that word, they use it on you. Politicians have traditionally hidden behind 3 things: the flag, the bible, and children - no child left behind, no child left behind. Oh, really it wasn't too long ago you were talking about giving children a head start. Head start - left behind, someone's losing ground here, but there's a reason. There's a reason for this. There's a reason education sucks, and it's the same reason it'll never ever be fixed - it's never going to get any better, don't look for it, be happy with what you got, because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now. The wealthy big business interests that controls things, and makes all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians, they're irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea you have freedom of choice - you don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own, and control the corporations. They've long since bought, and payed for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets, and they own all the big media, so they control just about all the information you get. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying - lobbying, to get what they want.

Well we know what they want. They want more for themselves, and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don't want - they don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that - that doesn't help them. That's against their interests. That's right. They don't want people that are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table, and think about how badly they're getting screwed by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago. They don't want that. You know what they want? Obedient workers - Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines, and do that paper work. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime, and vanishing pension that disappear the minute you go to collect it, and now they're coming for your social security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They'll get it - they'll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this place. It's a big club, and you aint in it. You, and I are not in The Big Club.

By the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think, and what to buy.

The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Good honest hard working people: white collar, blue collar it doesn't matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard working people continue (these are people of modest being) - continue to elect these rich douchebags who don't give a fuck about you. They don't give a fuck about you - they don't give a fuck about you. They don't care about you at all - at all - at all, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.

That's what the owners counted on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white, and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It's called the American Dream cause you have to be asleep to believe it.

God from Albert Einstein


The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. These subtilized interpretations are highly manifold according to their nature and have almost nothing to do with the original text. For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything "chosen" about them.

Don't seat me here!


A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man on an airplane.

Very disturbed by this, she called the air hostess. "You obviously do not see it then?" she asked. "You placed me next to a black man. I did not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant
group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available."

The hostess went away & then came back a few minutes later. "Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in Economy Class.

I spoke to the captain & he informed me that there is also no seat in Business Class.  All the same, we still have one place in First Class."

Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued. "It is unusual for our company to permit someone from Economy Class to sit in First Class. However, given the circumstances, the captain
feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting."

She turned to the black guy & said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in First Class."

At that moment, the other passengers, who'd been shocked by what they had just witnessed, stood up & applauded.

Why haters shouldn't hotlink images


UPDATE: Nutter, the owner of skinheads.net let me know they do not run a racist website, and I apologize for the confusion and the image chosen to stop the hotlinking. I guess it's back to the good ol' porn-mobile again.

So I was running through my Apache logs earlier and saw somebody hotlinking some of my pictures, so I decided to check it out. Turns out it's a skinhead website at skinheads.net. It's just a simple forum post, however it's still enough to mess with them a little bit!

Normally I'd throw some gay porn or something on there, but I decided to go with a little less nudity, and something a little more offensive:

Google's new sliding ads


While browsing around a site a few minutes ago, I noticed new arrows showing up on Google AdSense leather boards and banners. Update: Square ads now have sliding ad buttons that slide ads vertically, and the banner ads slide new ads horizontally. Here are some pictures of the sliders





The slider lets your users scroll through a whole series of ads without reloading your website. What this means is on a big leather board that normally displays 4 ads, can now display up to 24 ads if the viewer decides to scroll through that particular ad unit.

I've noticed that the sliding arrows don't always come up, Google still shows the traditional "More Ads" link as well, so my assumption is the sliding ads are just an add-on to the "More Ads" link, except the ads are shown inside your ad unit, instead of on a new webpage.

This is a another huge feature for Google AdSense because it will allow readers to find even more relevant information, which will ultimately make the publisher more money. I am yet to see the sliders on any ad type other than horizontal ads so far, but I can only assume Google will have an answer for the other ad types soon.

It seems like Google has been pumping out a lot of new features recently (which I won't complain about), but why? I'm not going to say any one ad network is responsible for making the Google giant adapt, but they guys at Google are smart enough to know that they can fall just as fast at they rose to the top.

Google pushes out editable ads


Google announced recently that they were going to be pushing out a new type of ads that make is easier for publishers to update settings, without having to update your AdSense code each and every time. All you do is insert the code once, and manage that ad through your Google AdSense account. Here is a sample of what it looks like:



If you decide you change the look and feel of your ad, you simply click "Edit this ad", and you will be able to edit the AdSense unit name, the ad type (image / text / both), channel information and link colors. About the only thing you can't edit is the size of the ad, this will require you generate new AdSense code.

There is also a new feature called "Preview this AdSense unit", which does exactly as it says. But it also allows you to enter the URL to the webpage the ad will be displayed on, and it will generate a list of ads that are most likely to appear on your website.

You will be presented with your Ad Name option when you generate some new code, and you can get to your ad management by doing to "AdSense Setup" -> "Manage Ads".

WidgetBucks pushed out this features a month ago, and it has been an amazing time-saver when its time to change a few settings. I'm glad to see Google putting some effort back into AdSense.
